Emergency communication center for Palisades nuclear plant can be 'up and running in an hour,' manager says

Entergy's Joint Information Center for the Palisades Nuclear Power Plant hasn't been used in three years. "We like it that way," said Daniel Malone, emergency planning manager for Palisades, during a tour of the building. The center in Benton Harbor, mandated by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, was built three years ago to gather response teams in the event of a second-level emergency alert at the plant, located in Covert Township south of South Haven.
