SOUTH HAVEN, MICH.– Free sports physicals drew 270 students to South Haven Health System on Wednesday. Middle and high school students from area schools lined up at the Wellness and Rehabilitation Center to get ready for the upcoming sports season.
Chris Rigozzi-Solano, mother of two Bangor High School students, is thankful for the free sports physicals, co-sponsored by the South Haven Health System Foundation and Entergy’s Palisades Nuclear Power Plant. In order to participate in interscholastic sports at the middle and high school level, the State of Michigan requires every student to undergo a yearly sports physical.
“As a parent, it saves you from having to take time off and schedule a doctor’s appointment. It’s a big timesaver,” said Rigozzi-Solano. “It’s also a great resource for kids whose families are on a limited income or may not have insurance.”
Six doctors, one physician’s assistant, and several volunteers from SHHS and Palisades donated their time.
The SHHS Foundation and Palisades will co-sponsor the next round of free sports physicals on Thursday, July 28 from 5-7 p.m. at the Wellness and Rehabilitation Center at South Haven Health System.
